Those are 2 milestones which are synonym to a four year old. While the latter is essential to be achieved, we still unable to get it done so far on ‘Arfaan. He is already 4y2m btw. Huhu

‘Aaqil fully potty trained before he reached four. Including night time. So when ‘Arfaan time we didnt expect it is this hard since he can speak and understand relatively much earlier than ‘Aaqil.

The thing about ‘Arfaan is he unable to tell when his pee gonna ‘come out’. He can only tell once he already wet. I tried to potty train him when I was still on maternity leave, back in Nov I think. Did for 3 days (daytime) straight then I gave up. Coz he cudnt tell. Even when he wakes up in the morning his diaper is still very wet. So I think emm he’s not ready. No sign yet.

But now its already April. Still no sign of ‘ready’ to b potty trained. We need to get this done at least by end of summer to make sure that he can be enrolled to school by end of this year. Do pray for us. 🥲

Well however good thing is he does very well in reading. Both Iqra’ and Bacalah Anakku. He is now at Iqra 5 and Bacalah Anakku 6 alhamdulillah. He started Iqra in Nov 2020 and Bacalah Anakku in Jan 2021.

Just casually started ‘Arfaan with Iqra’ as he didnt go to school since we moved to Putrajaya and all he did at home was watching TV. So one day I picked up ‘Aaqil’s old Iqra’ 1 and told him ok if you want to watch TV you have to finish one page first. So this ‘houserule’ happens to be working up until now alhamdulillah.

He started Bacalah Anakku when he enrolled at KSCC back in Jan. And when we move to Cairo, we continue the lesson at home. So every morning before they turned on the TV, he has to complete one page each Iqra and Bacalah Anakku. Simple rule eh.

Oh well not sure whether it will work with other kids. Or even with his adik later. Coz morale of the story from the potty train, every child is different, we can put some benchmark but dont compare as they have their own pace, their own specialty.
